Freedom from Sexual Violence

Colorado Latin@ Leadership Network (CLLN) Project

CCASA is launching the Colorado Latin@ Leadership Network (CLLN) Project. The primary purpose is to enhance the professional skills of individual Latin@ advocates in the anti-violence against women field.  The CLLN Project is designed to provide interactive, distance learning and in-person, comprehensive training. Participants will develop and enhance leadership and management skills to enable them to take on and succeed in leadership roles in their organizations and in the field.

The goals of the CLLN Project are:

  • Build upon and enhance the professional capacity of Latin@ advocates in anti-violence against women programs.
  • Create a community of support and professional network for leaders, aimed at reducing isolation, maximizing skills, development, information-sharing, and communication.
  • Reflect anti-oppression/anti-racism principles in daily operations of anti-violence programs.
  • Model leadership support, ally-informed advocacy, and culturally relevant services to communities of color and other underserved populations for local programs within our state.
  • Enhance hiring, retention, and promotion of staff from underrepresented populations.
  • Optimize the success and effectiveness of emerging leaders by providing opportunities to impact spheres of influence and communities through a variety of engaging CCASA programs and activities.

Throughout the project, program staff, speakers, and trainers will deliver topics such as leadership, management skills, organizational communication skills, program development and evaluation, community outreach, financial management, human resources, and self-care, to name a few.  At the conclusion of the 12-month project, participants will receive a certificate of achievement recognizing their professional development as a leader in the anti-violence against women field.

With the goal of ensuring that there are mutually clarified and agreed upon terms between CCASA and the participating advocates, a “goodwill” memorandum of understanding about the expectations for each party has been created to support full participation, communication, and a positive environment for the project .  The following are examples of some of the activities that will take place:

  • Participate in 1.5 hour monthly conference calls
  • Participate in distance learning activities, including
    • individual coaching
    • team group activities
    • web trainings
    • e-learning units
  • 3 in-person meetings
    • at the 2017 CAIA conference
    • Academy I (2-days) in Denver
    • 2018 Summit (2-days) in Denver

Participation

Each participant is required to attend all activities throughout the 12- month project. However, we do understand that there will be unforeseen circumstances or pre-existing commitments that may preclude applicants from participating in CLLN Project activities. A limited amount of absences will be accepted on a case-by-case basis.

Please carefully consider the participation commitment requirements, as we want to ensure accepted applicants can experience the CLLN Project to its full extent. The full participation of all CLLN project participants allows space for relationship building, creation of a professional support network, and learning group cohesion. The success of the leadership education and development is dependent on all selected applicants’ full participation throughout the 12-month project.

  • Must identify as a Latin@/person of color on a daily basis
