New Approaches & Emerging Technologies for Responding to Sexual Assault
NIJ’s Forensic Technology Center of Excellence (FTCoE) leads a comprehensive federal effort to share the knowledge and experience of sexual assault nurse examiners, sexual assault forensic examiners, and collaborative sexual assault response teams with practitioners who conduct investigations of criminal sexual assaults and who otherwise contribute to the national response to sexual assault.
On September 18, from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m (MST), the FTCoE will hold a forum on “Best Practices for the National Response to Sexual Assault Investigations.” This online and in-person forum will focus on emerging techniques and developments in evidence collection and analysis, forensic analysis using Y-STR capabilities, victim-centric care approaches, and the key factors that are essential to policy change. Presenters will also discuss best practices when resolving issues related to sexual assault. The forum presenters are researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders who are actively engaged in the development and implementation of policies that impact sexual assault investigations. Gerry LaPorte, NIJ’s Director of the Office of Investigative and Forensic Sciences, will be one of the presenters.
RSVP to attend in person by September 16 or register for the live webinar.
