Webinar: Understanding Dependency and Neglect Cases: An Introduction for Victim Advocates
Aug
08

Presented by: Jennifery Eyl, Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center

Description: Dependency and neglect cases are filed by county Departments of Human Services when there is a finding that child abuse or neglect has been committed by one or both of a child’s parents or caregivers.  This is a confusing system that combines aspects of the criminal and civil legal systems and a treatment program into a complex process with which most advocates are unfamiliar.  In this webinar, you will learn what a dependency and neglect case is, the timelines the court is required to follow, the expectations of the parents involved, and what it takes for a termination of parental rights to result.
