Help in Healing?…There’s an app for that.

By Alexa Priddy, CCASA Blogger

Hey everyone!  I sit here at my desk at CCASA excited to tell you about another app that you can use, whether you are a survivor, a professional working with survivors, or the friend or family member of someone looking for support.  Living Well is an app for your smartphone designed specifically for male survivors of sexual abuse, though I would recommend it as a healing tool for survivors of all genders.  Some things that make this app noteworthy:

  1. Guided meditations and breathing exercises you can use in the moment if you are feeling triggered, having a flashback, experiencing a panic attack, etc..
  2. Tools for managing all types of feelings or affects of trauma: “difficult memories, avoiding triggers, feeling isolated/disconnected, sad/depressed, anxious/worrying, anger, and sleeping difficulties.”
  3. Learning tools to become more informed and aware of what you are experiencing (specific info for men, too!)
  4. And a wellbeing assessment.
