Margaret Ochoa (she/her) has dedicated her career to public service, specifically in seeking protection for survivors of abuse, and learning strategies to prevent it. She presently works as the Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Specialist in the Department of Public Safety, School Safety Resource Center.

Her career started in private practice decades ago. When she left the firm, Margaret joined the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office, where she prosecuted Dependency & Neglect cases. That experience changed her trajectory. She determined to focus her work in service of the vulnerable, which gives her the greatest fulfillment. Throughout the years, there have been endless opportunities to support the causes she loves:  teaching adults and children how to protect themselves and their communities from abuse, fundraising for nonprofits and schools, managing multiple sports teams for her three children, and campaigning for education finance and candidates.

Margaret is a proud Cornhusker (but not unreasonably obnoxious). She is most proud of her children, who have grown into sensitive, hilarious adults. She loves spending time with them and the rescue mutts, and kayaking and golfing (very badly) with her patient husband.
