COLORADO VICTIMS’ RIGHTS ACT
Rocky Mountain Victim Law Center
*FREE* Webinar
Victims of crime in criminal cases have specific rights under the Colorado Victim Rights Act (VRA), which is both Constitutional and statutory law in Colorado. In this training, an overview of the VRA will be provided, which will include updated information related to legislative changes made to the VRA in 2022 and 2023. Examples will be shared of how victims’ rights can be made more meaningful through advocacy and litigation.

Topics will include: Title IX and what students and educators should expect from the new regulations; defamation law and how to manage the continuing threat of perpetrators suing victims and the case trends; stalking laws and how they can be a tool to prevent sexual violence; and the intersection of reproductive rights and rape. This free educational event is offered to our community by the organization that hosts the only National Sexual Violence Law Conference.

Join us on Monday, June 10 in Colorado Springs, CO for the 2024 Colorado Advocacy in Action Conference!
The Colorado Advocacy in Action Conference is an opportunity to connect, collaborate and create change as we work together to end sexual and domestic violence. We recognize that DV and SA are rooted in multiple forms of oppression, and working to end gender-based violence means working to end oppression on all levels. Here we center the experience of survivors and advocates who face, challenge, and transform multiple systemic barriers in their work toward healing practices. We invite presenters and presentations that amplify stories, center the knowledge of their own intersectional identities, and lift up the wisdom of resilient communities that our movements have historically underserved.
There will be over 40 workshop sessions, a keynote, roundtables and networking. The venue for CAIA 2024 is a retreat area which will offer many opportunities for self-care. We encourage attendees to bring their family along to enjoy the amenities and many activities in the Colorado Springs area!
