Title: Responding to allegations of sexual abuse and assault in immigration detention facilities
Date: July 24, 2018
Time: 9:00-10:30 AM MDT
Presenter: Erica Gammill, Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA)
This webinar will inform advocates, legal workers, lawyers, and others on how to respond to allegations of sexual abuse and assault from individuals held in immigration detention facilities operated by DHS/ICE and local contractors. It will provide information on how to make a report, what rights detained people have after making a report, and how advocates can support survivors in these facilities.
This webinar is intended for local rape crisis centers and other advocates who have staff that provide emotional support services to detained populations in Texas. It will also be helpful to immigration lawyers, legal workers and advocates, faith-based organizations, policy reform organizations, civil/human rights organizations, and others who are concerned about sexual abuse in detention facilities.
