SAVE Payment Program for Medical and Anonymous Sexual Assault Reports

This webinar will provide an overview of the SAVE payment program, which is available to pay for medical forensic exams and other associated medical costs for victims/survivors who receive medical care after a sexual assault and chose not to report to law enforcement. This will include a brief overview of the payment process itself, as well as steps to take if a victim/survivor receives a bill(s) and may be eligible for payment assistance through the SAVE program.
Kyra Moon is a grant manager and the SAVE Payment Program Coordinator at the Office for Victims Programs within the Division of Criminal Justice. In the SAVE Coordinator role, Kyra interacts with SANE programs, healthcare billing, law enforcement agencies, victims/survivors, and agencies serving victims/survivors. She is part of the Forensic Compliance Evaluation Project with CCASA, helping to gather information on how many sexual assault cases that start as medical or anonymous reports convert to law enforcement reports. Kyra has a MA in International Human Rights and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance. Prior to her current position, Kyra worked at a domestic violence shelter in southwest Colorado for over five years, first as an advocate and then as the Project Manager.
