Description: Housing advocacy is a critical piece of providing holistic services to sexual assault victims. Safe and stable housing is a basic need that, when met, can allow a victim to deal with other important needs in the aftermath of an assault. From improving security within the home to helping victims relocate, advocates can play a critical role in improving the safety and stability of survivors’ housing. This session will discuss how we can identify and prioritize sexual assault victims’ housing needs, assess potential housing remedies, and protect victims’ privacy within housing. Attendees will have an opportunity to review case examples and discuss housing advocacy strategies.
