Event: WINGS Clinical Training – Evolving Group Leadership: Movement from Fundamental to Creative Interventions

Breakfast and snacks will be provided as well as certificates of attendance. A substantial portion of the proceeds goes to help WINGS Foundation Inc. continue to grow the much needed support for survivors of childhood sexual abuse.


A day long workshop for therapists seeking to refine their group leadership or co-leadership skill set.  We will be covering skills for and development of therapists to move from fundamental approaches to creative interventions in the group setting.  A mixture of lecture, role-plays and discussion will be used to present this material in an exciting and engaging manner.

Course Objectives / Outcomes:

  • Have a working model for your evolution as a group leader from consciously incompetent to unconsciously competent
  • Be able to articulate fundamental views of group dynamics and interventions that support movement in group and individual members
  • Have working model for creative interventions for group movement
  • Be able to respond to frequently challenging types of group moments or member character types
Presenter Bio:
Casey Burnett, MA, LPC is the current president of Colorado Group Psychotherapy Society and teaches as adjunct faculty at Naropa University’s Graduate School of Psychology.  He formerly lead WINGS groups for three years and now focus’s his clinical work with his private practice, Present Moment Counseling in Boulder, CO. Casey has presented in the past at conferences such as with the Colorado Counseling Association, American Dance Therapy Association, and the WINGS Foundation.
