Making the Address Confidentiality Program work for survivors can be a challenge. Without the right information, an ACP participant might end up compromising their confidentiality during family court proceedings, when placing a 911 call, or purchasing real property. Learning about the ACP statutes relevant to participant interactions with state/local government agencies as well as private entities will assist advocates in better supporting their clients in maintaining their confidentiality. This training can be used to get certified as an Application Assistant, renew an existing certification, or as a refresher for active Application Assistants.

Nikki Hernandez is the Outreach Coordinator for the Colorado Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) and has been with the program since 2017. Nikki has worked to support survivors since she was in college, where she created a peer facilitated support group for survivors of sexual assault on campus. Prior to coming to the ACP, she worked as a Confidential Victim’s Advocate and served as the Board Chair for Finding Our Voices, a non-profit dedicated to helping heal survivors of sexual assault through art. Nikki is committed to expanding support for survivors statewide through awareness and relationship building.

This training is supported by federal grants 2018-WF-AX-0028, 2019-WF-AX-0053, 2020-WF-AX-0043 awarded by the Office on Violence Against Women, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice, through the Division of Criminal Justice, Colorado Department of Public Safety. The opinions, findings, and conclusions or recommendations expressed in this training are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views of the U.S. Department of Justice nor the Colorado Department of Public Safety.
