Presented By: Casey Ballinger, Post-Conviction Victim Advocate, The Blue Bench and Lindsay Klatt, Post-Conviction Victim Advocate, The Blue Bench
Post-Conviction Victim Advocacy is a program piloted by The Blue Bench. The program was created to help fill the gaps identified by survivors of sexual assault once an offender has been sentenced to probation. The Colorado Sex Offender Management Board requires victim representation on teams who are supervising and treating the person who has committed a sexual offense.
This workshop will explain what advocacy looks like in the post-conviction phase, how advocates work within supervision teams, and the value of using a survivor-centered approach to supervise individuals who have committed sexual offenses within the community. The presenters will provide an introductory overview as to how other victim service agencies can implement similar advocacy.
