Indigenous women face murder rates at 10 times the national average

“What does missing and murdered mean to you?”

The question was posed at the beginning of Tuesday’s symposium at Fort Lewis College by head speaker Gina Lopez, a Ute Mountain Ute and staff member of Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault. Lopez is a member of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives Taskforce of Colorado, made up of members of various tribes in the state.
