Organization: Sexual Assault Victim Advocate Center (SAVA)
Presented by:
Cassie Hurley, Victim Advocate and Outreach Coordinator
Sean Grogan, Larimer and Weld County Advocate
We will cover the dynamics of federal, state, and local correctional operations, and discuss the various standards surrounding survivors’ rights and community advocacy partnerships as well as how to help facilities implement and meet those standards. Additionally, we will cover initial contact and development of relationships between community advocacy groups and correctional facilities, up to and including the drafting and signing of an official MOU. We will also explain the steps taken to implement the group, why this type of group was used and the topics covered, and establishing boundaries and trust with survivors.
