Resources for Media

For the Media

The Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CCASA) unequivocally condemns all acts of sexual violence.

Sexual violence occurs when someone forces or manipulates someone else into unwanted sexual activity without their consent. CCASA recognizes that sexual violence is never the fault of a survivor; and there is no right or wrong reaction for a survivor to have during, or after, a sexual assault. We believe that in order to protect communities, as well as prevent future victimization, we must place responsibility for this crime solely on offenders.

In order to create a society free from sexual violence, we must advocate for survivors, educate our communities on the detrimental effects of sexual violence, and explore the most effective ways to prevent violence from happening in the first place. This includes recognizing that sexual violence and oppression are intricately linked and understanding how this plays out in the response to both survivors and offenders.
