Each year, the month of April is designated Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) in the United States. The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence. Each year CCASA’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month Planning Committee convenes from October through May to coordinate resources and events across Colorado. View the SAAM Fact Sheet for more info and to outreach to your community!

SAAM Resources for CCASA Members
CCASA’s SAAM planning Committee in coordination with CCADV’s Latina Outreach Project Coordinator, Kristiana Huitron, developed a Spanish Media Kit for SAAM! Click here to access the NSVRC Spanish Flyer about Sexual Violence.
Denim Day Templates
Many member organizations hold events for Denim Day, a worldwide day to bring awareness to the myths and misconceptions that surround sexual assault. Learn more about Denim Day USA. We are providing you with these template materials-a postcard and a flyer for general awareness raising-to help spread the word in your community.
These posters are designed for members to put in public places, like a restroom or community board, to raise awareness about DFSA and about their agency as a resource. These posters-4 different topics, all in English and Spanish-have spaces where agencies can customize them with their agency name & contact info.
SAAM Bar Trivia Fundraiser Guide
The Bar Trivia Guide is designed for communities who are looking to build collaborations between local bars/restaurants through the hosting of a trivia event for SAAM. This guide provides general as well as sexual assault-specific trivia rounds so that you don’t need a professional to run your event…you and your staff and volunteers can make it happen! Not to mention, this is designed to be a fundraiser for your agency. Contact us with questions about creating a trivia event.
SAAM Book List
We are always adding to this list! The SAAM Book List includes fiction and non-fiction as well as adult and teen selections of books that your book club can read to start a conversation. You can also work with your local library or book store to have a book display or reading during SAAM!
2017 SAAM Media Kit
This is a comprehensive Media Kit with tips and tools for reaching out to your local media, whether through a Letter to the Editor, video PSA, Blog post, Proclamation, etc. This Kit provides sample and template materials that will make your job easier!
