Parasomnias are relatively common. We probably all know someone who has walked about in their sleep at one time. But what happens when someone accused of a crime is diagnosed with a parasomnia and raises their sleeping condition as a defense? Learn from 1st Judicial Deputy District Attorney John VanLandschoot and Investigator Russell Bohner who overcame this defense at trial. This workshop will seek to educate participants about this type of defense and will hopefully give participants a better understanding of when and how a parasomnia might affect the outcome of a case.
We will cover the following: Parasomnias in general, sexsomnia (abnormal sleep related sexual behavior), investigating, litigating, and a case overview.
