Areas of expertise:

  • Community Organizing & Stewardship
  • Learning & Curriculum Design
  • Sexual Harm Crisis Intervention & Response
  • Non-Punitive System of Justice

Amelia’s current advocacy work focuses on community organizing around issues of sexual harm, interpersonal violence, and alternative systems of justice, with an emphasis on supporting queer communities and survivors of sexual assault. She supports collaborative approaches for those seeking to create community-based education interventions and opportunities to co-develop survivor-centered, responsive systems of care and justice. Through anti-oppression and strength-based practices, Amelia believes in helping to build capacity within communities that respond to complex and traumatic issues in human-centered ways and expand their abilities to self-resource and grow their impacts while prioritizing community members disproportionately affected by harm.

Before this work, Amelia coordinated the sexual assault emergency response for the nine counties surrounding the Denver metro area, including supervising advocates staffing the 24/7 phone hotline, the 24/7 in-person hospital response team, delivering the 40-hour advocate certification curriculum, providing direct front-line crisis support to survivors, and stewarding partnerships with both key industry partners as well as the broader community.
