The Sexual Assault Victim Advocate (SAVA) Center’s mission is to provide crisis intervention, advocacy and counseling for all those affected by sexual violence and provide prevention programs through community outreach and education.

Position Title: Program Facilitator – Weld County Prevention Education

Reports to: Prevention Education Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: Coordinate and grow SuperWorld, Speak Up!, and Sexual Assault Resource Team (SART) Peers in Weld County as part of SAVA’s Prevention Education programming to address and reduce gender and sexual violence. Prevention Education programs provide youth ages 6-18 with developmentally-appropriate and gender-specific sessions focused on supporting self-esteem, healthy relationships, and social action. The SuperWorld program incorporates these focuses while also training to complete a 5K (3.1 mile) running event.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prevention Education Programming:

  • Design, plan, and implement prevention education curricula for youth ages 8-18 in Weld County
  • Assist with program and curriculum development
  • Recruit group members and adult volunteer mentors
  • Assist the Prevention Education Manager in building and maintaining relationships, recruiting youth participants, recruiting, screening, and training adult mentors, and scheduling and facilitating groups in Weld County schools and community locations
  • Act as a liaison with other prevention programs in Weld County
  • Implement additional prevention education presentations and activities as needed
  • Assist with public relations regarding prevention education programs
  • Conduct program evaluations and collect, analyze, and report data findings

Administrative:

  • Collect and enter statistical data on the provision of services, and prepare reports in accordance with prescribed reporting requirements
  • Create and maintain promotional materials and community resource materials
  • Track all program volunteer hours and prepare quarterly reports for supervisor
  • Communicate with staff on a regular basis through meetings and supervision

Other Related Duties:

  • Attend SAVA-related events as needed
  • Follow established SAVA Center policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Respond to 24-hour rape crisis hotline calls by providing non-therapeutic crisis intervention and advocacy skills as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional experience working in a related field and/or providing prevention education
  • Knowledge and understanding of sexual assault and cultural roots of sexual violence
  • Experience with group facilitation, public speaking, and developing and delivering presentations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Publisher
  • Fluency in speaking and writing Spanish strongly preferred

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in public speaking
  • Proficiency in experiential learning techniques
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
  • Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate interns and volunteers within area of specialty
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and crisis theory
  • Knowledge of adolescent development
  • Ability to provide non-therapeutic crisis intervention and advocacy services to sexual assault victims and their loved ones

  • Fluency in speaking and writing English
  • Fluency in speaking and writing Spanish strongly preferred
